The International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) is an internationally recognized standard that verifies your business’s electricity consumption is sourced entirely from renewable energy origins.

What is an I-REC Certificate?

I-REC enables your organization to certify that a designated volume of its electricity consumption originates from renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydro. As environmental sensitivities and legal mandates intensify, companies are prioritized to decrease their carbon footprint and officially validate their sustainability claims.

Addressing this exact need, the I-REC certificate documents your green energy usage and enhances your credibility in sustainability. As a globally recognized credential, I-REC plays a pivotal role in your company’s sustainability journey.

What I-REC is NOT

The I-REC certificate is not an energy supply tariff or a physical energy delivery agreement. Purchasing a renewable energy certificate does not mean changing your existing energy provider.

While continuing to receive your power supply as usual, you simultaneously gain a guarantee of origin proving that this electricity was generated from renewable sources.

Furthermore, I-REC should not be confused with carbon credits or emission permits. Instead of physical electricity flow, for every 1 MWh of electricity you consume, you acquire one certificate, documenting that an equivalent amount of clean energy has been added to the grid. In this regard, I-REC offers a practical solution to reduce your carbon footprint, independent of your current energy infrastructure .
